Cory Lindsay, his Quest for the Wild.

My love for the West Coast began when I was barely knee high to a tadpole. My first encounter with the astonishing beauty was watching the Canadian TV program, "The Beachcombers" when I was around 5 years old. I was smitten; and I knew I had to live there someday. For most of my life however, the dream was just that; a dream. It wasn't until a joint expedition between myself and two friends from the Backpacker Magazine online forum that I got to experience the magnificence in person.

The expedition was to cross Princess Royal Island, and document as much scenery and wldlife as possible in order to bring the public's attention to what was at risk of being lost forever if a proposed oil terminal were to be built nearby. This was in 2009. One year later I was living as only the second human inabitant of the ghost town of Butedale on the 900 square mile Princess Royal Island.

As of October 2014, I officially became the sole resident of Butedale, and my dream of peace and solitude in the wilderness finally came true.
